Football Thursday Lunch – November
November 2, 2023 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Join fellow Tiger fans to discuss the current football season. Lunch and discussion will be Thursday, November 2, 12:00pm – 1:00pm at Allen Martin’s office, 499 South Capitol Street, SW, Suite 600, Washington DC. Lunch will be served. Registration is $10 for Club members; $25 for non-members. Guest speaker, former player, Landon Walker ’11, the NASCAR Tiger, will join us to discuss Clemson Football. Please register if you plan to attend.
Walker followed NASCAR as a youth, but he was all about playing football. He excelled in high school, then accepted a scholarship to play for Head Coach Tommy Bowden at Clemson. He entered in January 2007, one of four Tigers who entered a semester early, an unusual occurrence in those days.
Walker redshirted the 2007 season, but he was ready as a starter at left offensive tackle under Assistant Coach Brad Scott in 2008. He went on to start 49 of 53 games and played 3,131 snaps, third most in Tiger history, from 2008-11. He earned his degree on Aug. 13, 2011, then played his final year of eligibility in the fall of 2011.
Walker was one of the veterans on the 2011 team that helped Dabo Swinney and the Tigers end 20 years of frustration when they won the ACC title.
