Board Member Spotlight

John Lynn ’85

John Lynn graduated from Clemson University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Building Science and Construction Management. He received the John Matthe Award as the outstanding student in the Department of Building Science in 1985.  He obtained a Masters of Business Administration for the University of Maryland in 1987.  John is a principal at Finney Lynn, Inc., a development and construction management company specializing in large scale historic renovations. In his free time, he likes to attend football games, raise honey bees and work in the garden. He also coached little league football and baseball for over fifteen years.  John has a beautiful wife, Kathy, and a wonderful son Matthew.

John decided to attend Clemson after he visited the campus at the age of ten! His favorite memories of Clemson are times spent with his close friends going to football games, playing intramural sports and swimming and waterskiing at Lake Hartwell.  His sister Robin Kirk (‘78) and niece Bethany LeClair (‘11) also graduated from Clemson.

John joined the Baltimore Washington Clemson Club more than thirty years ago, and has a been a board member for over twenty-five years. One of his favorite memories of the club was the first club tailgate party he attended before a Maryland football game. It opened the door to countless friendships with fellow Clemson alumni. He enjoyed the opportunity The Club provided for him to spend time with former President Barker and current President Clements, and to meet Dabo Swinney.  John and Kathy have hosted several Club events including a honey harvest.  John worked with The Club helping current students make internship and job connections with local alumni.  He would like to see the local Clemson internship program develop such that it supports a Clemson Intern House in Washington, DC.

John believes we should all take great pride in the Baltimore Washington Clemson Club, noting that The Club is recognized by the University as one of the finest in the country, and its members are frequently recognized as distinguished alumnus. He encourages you to attend as many events as you can and revel in the power of the Paw.
