Board Member Spotlight

Billy Davis ‘84

When asked about his favorite Clemson memory, Billy Davis wasted no time in answering: playing on the 1981 National Championship Team.  He is also immensely proud of playing Clemson Football and Baseball with Coaches Danny Ford and Bill Wilhelm, respectively, and is ranked second in Clemson history in career punt returns.  But while those may be highlights of his time at Clemson, Billy has since had many professional accomplishments, having served the university, his community, and the country in many ways.

A 1984 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Billy went on to complete postgraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University.  After playing with the St. Louis Cardinals from 1984-1985, Billy served as Special Agent in the United States Secret Service for 27 years.  Before retiring in 2015, he served the Special Agent in Charge of the Vice Presidential Protective Division for Joseph R. Biden.

Billy is currently the Director of Executive and Major Event Security for Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.  He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Military Bowl (2010-2018).  Billy is a die-hard Clemson fan, but he also proudly cheers for the Kentucky Wildcats as his youngest daughter is a member of the UK Swim and Dive Team. He has been married to his wife, Kim, for 31 years and they have two daughters, Hannah (24) and Sofie (20).

Billy served on the Clemson Club Regional Board of Directors in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and we are so proud to welcome him back to the Board with his re-election in the summer of 2021.

This March, our Club is proud to help host Call Me MiSTER Director Mark Joseph, a former MiSTER himself, along with several current students as they visit DC during Clemson’s spring break.  Alumni, parents, and students are invited to join us for a special evening reception on Wednesday, March 18 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington to meet Mark and the MiSTERs while hearing first hand stories of their success and celebrating the program’s incredible impact.

Registration is just $7 for Club members (who may bring three guests at this rate) and $20 for non-members and includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and soft drinks, along with complimentary valet parking.
